EDIT: Thanks for the responses. I guess cab drivers hate credit money for the same reason I like it: it's less real than paper money ( (which is less real than gold (which is less real than a steak on a plate) )). All cab companies in Portland take cards.
2. Re: Do taxis take credit cards? Credit cards, Visa and MasterCard, widely accepted and generally preferred to cash for even the smallest amounts. Only occasion when you might need cash is local buses and for city buses you normally buy tickets from machine or convenience shop with card.
All cab drivers are required to have credit card machines and accept plastic as payment. If they don't have the machines, the cabs can be taken out of service, said Jose Velez, an inspector with
I do have a card that has a PIN, but signature is still the primary authentication method so I still get a receipt to sign everywhere. Even non-chip cards should still be accepted with a swipe of the magnetic strip. I've had several merchants in Ireland do that even though I have chip cards and the transaction went through just fine.
A: Yes, all Yellow Cabs do accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and our very own TaxiCard. tempercrap • 10 yr. ago. They shouldn't refuse service, but cabbies in Austin can be pretty dick sometimes.
Save. Yes they take cards. They will enter the fare from the meter leaving the tip line open. Enter the tip and total it. Sign it and get a copy. Usually the second copy. If by chance the original ever got altered (which I have never had happen) the carbon copy is proof. Be sure that you get your card back.
7 years ago. Save. Yes, taxis take credit cards. There's a 5% transaction fee. Draw funds from your own account from an ATM, you won't get a decent exchange rate from a money exchange. Check if your bank has an arrangement with an Australian bank to minimize ATM fees. Report inappropriate content.
The City of Chicago has an initiative to ensure all City of Chicago licensed taxicabs have rear sear swipe credit card equipment installed and mounted safely and securely to allow passengers to swipe and pay their taxicab fare without ever having to surrender their credit/debit card. All passengers should call 3-1-1 if any of the above rules
Acceptance of credit cards is generally good. ATMs are available but will tack on a good chunk of fees. NEVER use a credit card to get cash, use a debit card instead. Not all cards work all the time, so it's a good idea to have 2 or 3 available. If you are planning to stay for a few days try getting an Octopus card.
As for the payment, today many taxis accept credit card but the main payment method is still cash so have some with you (Euros only), also remember that the driver is obligated to give change only from a 20. Airport Bus. The special airport bus is called Aerobús. It's a fairly fast and inexpensive way to get to the city center for 1-3 people
